Founder & Pastoral Director
Shawn Smith
As the Leader and Pastoral Director of CHEC, Mr. Shawn combines strategic leadership with a pastoral touch, Discipling with Love through faith in Christ educating students and community with a focus on teaching each person they are unique, loved, and have purpose in God's plan.

Jennifer Sullivan
Miss Jen, mother of three and a homeschooling mom, keeps our building beautiful! Bringing laughter and a warm touch to the CHEC community. Ms. Jen is also the house manager of a local Ocala foster home supporting aged-out foster girls at Refuge of Hope. Her powerful testimony and love to serve makes her a wonderful addition to CHEC!

Social Media Manager and Private Tutor
Shelby McCormick
Shelby is a homeschooled high school graduate pursuing a degree in Journalism and Apologetics at Liberty University. Building on her classical education, she loves mentoring children through their studies. Being a self-published author, she has a passion for creative writing and bringing the mature independence of a child to life. Shelby is excited to come alongside you and your child on this journey of homeschooling. Whether it is Mathematics, English, History, or anything in between, mastery and excellence is the priority. Miss Shelby believes that school shouldn't be boring information that stays on the page; it is meant to develop skills for life and train the child for God's purpose in their life!

Wesley Bastie
Mr. Wes received his Masters Degree in Education and for over 50 years he has worked with young adults and children as a coach and disciple. He holds several degrees, one being 'Holistic Healing" and has been practicing for over twenty years. His greatest passion is the love for God and the hunger to help others understand their purpose in Gods plan. This Man of God strives to encourage all to be more like Jesus!

Amber Morton
A homeschooling mother and worship leader, Mrs. Amber is your personal resource here at CHEC! With vast knowledge of homeschooling curriculum, learning and teaching styles, various routines and more she meets one on one with our parents who may be struggling with anything homeschool related to help ensure that our parents are thriving on their journey. She also leads our CHEC family bible study and prayer group every Tuesday where she gets to do what she loves most, talk about the goodness of God! Mrs. Amber is passionate about helping God's people, young and old, walk in the truth of Christ!

English Language Arts Teacher and Private Tutor
Bonnie Huttenlocher
A dedicated educator with 35 years of Special Education experience helping students of all abilities discover how smart they truly are, Ms. Bonnie specializes in working with children who learn differently including those with ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum, and other unique needs. I’m trained in the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) research-based reading program and has a proven track record of bringing students up to grade level and beyond in language arts and math. Whether online or in person, her goal is simple: to help each child feel capable, confident, and ready to succeed!

A Panama native, Digna Smith brings over 20 years of experience and a passion for teaching Spanish to children of varied abilities in our unique community! It's both a joy and a blessing for her to be able impart the gift of a new language to our children!

Lovingly known as the "organization Queen," Miss Christina keeps our office running in tip top shape! Education is her number one focus and is determined on bringing unsurpassed education with a loving and motivated heart.

Mr. Glenn is an experienced teacher with over 40 years of experience who has taught in both the public and private sectors as well as holding positions in administration. Mr. Glenn is known for not just communicating knowledge but also imparting a love for learning and instills confidence and encourages and maintains a focus on leadership development. Mr. Mack is a Certified educator in elementary education grades K-6th with over 10 years of classroom experience, including teaching core subjects in-person and in virtual school settings. Mr. Mack is loved by his students for his creative and kind words of encouragement daily and his specialty in early reading interventions. Mr. Mack is truly a gift from God and we are blessed to have him with us at CHEC!

I am a homeschool mom of four and have been homeschooling for nine years! I love to teach pretty much anything, especially Bible and Spanish. M husband was active duty military for eight years so I've lived in many places but now my family and I call Ocala home and I am honored to have the privilege of helping our youngest students at CHEC thrive!
